There is a need to make the SMR's easily usable when going outside DTU.

Demands:
* Fast and robust boot of the Linux machine
* To be able to monitor the progress in booting
* Simple way of starting and stopping programs
* Simple way to get the status of the SMR

Possible solutions:
* IR remote control using lirc
* LCD display http://www.crystalfontz.com
* linuxbios
* button/LED interface for the parallel port

Possibly interface:
* USB Port (present on all current SMR's and probally the future)
* LPT Port (present on all current SMR's but maybe not present in the future)
* Serial Port (present but occupied by other equipment)
* RS-485 Bus (Difficult to use during boot-up and suffer from high load)
